Utah’s Oil Railway gets OK from Forest Service

The U.S. Forest Service, an agency of the Dept. of Agriculture (currently run by the Biden Administration,) has a long history of promoting exploitation of our forests rather than preservation.

This week the agency betrayed the Biden Administration’s commitment to address climate change by giving a right-of-way to the Uinta Basin Railway, a 12 mile rail construction project with the sole purpose of increasing the amount of oil drilling in the Basin by 400%. This decision would only exacerbate the climate crisis- we need to be moving away from fossil fuels, not increasing their output..The Biden Administration has the full authority to stamp out ideas like this that will clearly accelerate the climate crisis.

UPHE will weigh in on this approval, and we highly recommend you do too. We need a ground-swell of individuals to object. The deadline to submit opposition comments is Dec. 20.
