Invest in Utah’s Future Coalition Press Conference

The Deseret News covered a press conference put on by the Invest in Utah’s Future Coalition.

UPHE’s executive director, Jonny Vasic, spoke at the press conference about the incredible opportunity given to Utah schools to put air purifiers in their classrooms at no cost to them. This program was made possible through a federal grant the Utah Dept. of Health and Human Services received. Continued funds from the state would help schools continue use of their purifiers long into the future.

Studies have shown purifiers in classrooms provide greater education cost/benefit, in some cases far greater, than other interventions such as a 30% reduction in class size, “high dose tutoring,” increasing family income with an earned income tax credit, or the Head Start program. The reduction in absences their presence causes also saves the school money.
