Call to action! Utah Air Quality Board

Last week, three Republican Senators voted against Governor Cox’s nomination of Dr. Suzanne Harrison for the Utah Air Quality Board. Dr. Harrison is a current member of the Salt Lake County Council, and has a proven commitment to clean air.

She would be one of the most qualified members of that board since it was chaired in the late 1980s by Dr. Richard Kanner, a founding member of UPHE. Harrison’s background, expertise, and priorities would truly be a “breath of fresh air” on a board that does not typically act to minimize Wasatch Front pollution.

There is still a chance for her appointment, but it rests on the Utah Senate to take up her nomination. Sending a short message to the Senate could go a long way.
