Listen: Utah Public Radio covers the recent approval of controversial Weber County Inland Port

Utah Public Radio (UPR) covered a few areas of important concern on their latest “Behind the Headlines” radio segment. Last week, there were a slew of articles (↓) on the hotly contested approval of a 9,000 acre inland port in Weber County. The UPR segment discusses the main issues with the inland port, one of the biggest being its threat to Great Salt Lake wetlands.

The port was passed by the Utah Inland Port Authority Board despite resident protests and hundreds of letters sent urging them to slow down and conduct studies on the impacts before they approve it.

UPR starts talking about the Inland Port about 20 minutes in. UPR cites UPHE’s work on the issue in the segment.

The segment also talks about another issue UPHE’s worked to amplify, which is Utah’s efforts to skirt federal air quality rules (↓).
