LEGISLATURE SIGNS OFF ON SCHEME TO BUILD PRIVATE REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT IN UTAH LAKE

Our friends at Utah Valley Earth Forum have informed us about an issue we should be aware of and share with our supporters. The Utah Legislature has signed off on a scheme to build a large private real estate development in the middle of Utah Lake

Developers have asked the State to give them control of the lake “to clean it up”. They will then build a high-density development on approximately 20,000 acres of islands they would construct, mostly from dredged-up lake bottom.  Their plan is to create a city in the middle of the lake.  The proposal is called a “land exchange” where the developers would be given land (at no cost) currently held in public trust, in exchange for the developers’ attempt to “restore” the lake.  Read more about why this is a very bad idea and sign the Action Network petition letter, sponsored by Utah Valley Earth Forum.
