JOIN US WEDNESDAY FOR A PUBLIC HEARING. WE DON’T WANT TAX DOLLARS TO SUBSIDIZE THE POLLUTING PORT AND PROFITS FOR DEVELOPERS AND GIANT CORPORATIONS

Today, Wednesday (June 16) at 4 pm, the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) will hold a public hearing on its proposed $40,252,574 budget for the coming year. This is our tax money that will be used to subsidize development of the polluting port and the profits of developers.

Please join us on Wednesday to say NO to the UIPA boondoggle.

The polluting port will contribute significantly to increased pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Anything UIPA says to the contrary is propaganda designed to placate the public. At the beginning of the meeting the public will be able to comment on the proposed UIPA budget. It is important that we show community opposition.

Our tax dollars may also help the ports of Long Beach and Oakland to offload their pollution to Utah.  This transloading facility is something Utah developers want, to help them supersize the development beyond the first few warehouses currently being built.

Developers have also made it clear that without public subsidies they will be unable to build the hundreds of millions of square feet of warehouse space they hope to build.During a record heat wave and devastating fires throughout the state made worse by the climate crisis, it is clear we shouldn’t spend tax dollars on this harmful boondoggle.
