UPHE at Utah 30×30 press conference

UPHE is part of a coalition putting together a Utah 30×30 proposal; the goal of which is to protect 30% of land and water in Utah by the year 2030. You may have seen us promoting the coalitions survey. The coalition held a public press conference over Facebook last Thursday to go over survey results, and elaborate on their mission.

UPHE Executive Director, Jonny Vasic, spoke at the press conference held by the coalition and said “The Science is clear that there is no safe level of air pollution. So given that fact, UPHE is proud to be part of Utah 30×30 because we are dedicated to promoting the health and well being of residents of Utah by promoting science based health education and interventions that result in measurable improvements to our environment and our health. Utah 30×30 is a science based proposal that can help mitigate the negative impacts of climate change, and positively impact our health. The climate crisis is linked to social disparities and if not managed, we will continue to see negative impacts on our economy, public health, and our overall well being. We need to not only protect what we have, but increase the protected areas to 30% by 2030. Once it’s gone, we can’t get it back.”

Thank you to all who took the survey or joined us for the press conference.
