The Pesticide Problem with the Farm Bill

The 2026 Farm bill (H.R. 7567) contains harmful changes to pesticide labeling and approvals. Several sections in the bill reduce or eliminate the government’s ability to regulate potentially harmful pesticides.

“Several sections in the bill reduce or eliminate the government’s ability to regulate potentially harmful pesticides. For example, the bill extends the deadline for the review of hundreds of pesticides, and would force uniform pesticide labels across the country, which preempts state or local governments from mandating stricter labels that differ from those of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)” TNL reported.

The bill has passed the House.

The bill was virtually written by the pesticide industry, would grant them legal immunity for causing disease like cancer, and would prevent states and local governments from making regulations more strict than the Trump EPA.

Please call Utah Senators Curtis (202-224-5251) and Lee (202-224-5444) and ask them to stand up for Utahns rights to defend themselves from hazardous chemicals.

We are especially concerned about the rising level of PFAS (forever chemicals) being found in pesticides, further compounding their toxicity. UPHE has been advocating for Utah to ban pesticides that contain forever chemicals.
